ESPN projects Iowa State to face North Carolina State in Camping World Bowl

Iowa State football is 5-2 in 2017 — putting the Cyclones just one win away from bowl-eligibility. And according to ESPN, Iowa State fans may have the chance to watch their team play in much warmer weather than Ames this winter.

ESPN projected Iowa State to face North Carolina State in the Camping World Bowl in Orlando, Fla. The game will be played at Camping World Stadium on Dec. 28.

Iowa State has not gone bowling since 2012. The Cyclones lost to Tulsa in the Liberty Bowl that season.

Iowa State’s 5-2 start to 2017 is the team’s best since 2002. It’s also the first time since that season that the Cyclones have begun Big 12 play with a 3-1 record.

Iowa State will have a chance at upsetting the No. 4 team in the country on Saturday when TCU pays a visit to Jack Trice Stadium. Iowa State, now No. 25, entered the AP Top 25 rankings for the first time in 12 years on Sunday.
