The NCAA men’s basketball tournament may be dominating the headlines right now, but it’s always time for football recruiting.

Yes, even in March.

On Sunday, Indiana landed its first commit for the Class of 2019 when Emery Simmons gave his pledge. Simmons is a 3-star WR according to 247Sports.

The 6-foot-2 pass-catcher is from Hope Mills, N.C. Simmons is ranked as the No. 87 WR in his class and the No. 26 player in the state of North Carolina.

Outside of Indiana, the only other Division I scholarship offer he has — according to 247Sports — is from East Carolina. Just one day prior to his commitment, Simmons attended Junior Day at East Carolina.

Simmons also attended Indiana’s Junior Day on March 3. As a junior in high school, he caught 55 passes for 997 yards and 12 TD.
