Clemson has faltered and the College Football Playoff picture just got interesting.
Friday night in the Carrier Dome? Apparently that had “trap game” written all over it. It may not have made a lot of sense coming into the evening, but Syracuse (3-3) defeated No. 2 Clemson (6-0) in a stunning ACC upset.
Not only did Syracuse win, 27-24, but the Orange was able to keep Clemson from taking a lead for the entire evening.
Coming into the game, Clemson had defeated 49 of its last 50 unranked opponents.
The Tigers did recover from a loss to Pittsburgh last season to win a national title against Alabama last season. Clemson coach Dabo Swinney, who played for the 1992 national championship team at Alabama, is expected to be at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday to celebrate the 25 year anniversary of that title.
From an SEC perspective, the Clemson loss clears the path for the potential of two conference teams making the College Football Playoff. Both Alabama and Georgia are 6-0 on the season. Auburn is 5-1, with its lone loss coming at Clemson.
The internet was losing its cool after Dabo Swinney and the defending national champions took a loss to a team that dropped a game to Middle Tennessee State in the same building last month.
Here are some of the highlights:
Awful performance by Clemson all around. They deserve this loss.

Clemson doing all it can to bring back “Clemsoning”. This is worse than losing to Pitt. Find a way to win please. This is pathetic.
