Darren Carrington on his return to Autzen Stadium: ‘I feel like I’m going to get booed a little bit’

Darren Carrington was once a key part of Oregon’s run to the 2014 College Football Playoff final. Two and a half years later, he was off the team and looking for a new school.

The receiver landed at Utah, where he’s made an immediate impact, catching 45 passes for 649 yards and 5 touchdowns in 7 games. The Utes have lost 3 straight games, but they were extremely competitive, dropping 2 of those 3 games by 3 points or less.

Carrington returns to the home of the Ducks — Autzen Stadium — this weekend. He doesn’t expect a warm welcome.

“I feel like I’m going to get booed a little bit,” Carrington said, via the Salt Lake Tribune’s Chris Kamrani. “But I don’t really care. I like when it’s us against the world. I like that feeling.

“It’s going to be a fun game for me.”

Carrington went on to talk about how Oregon was his school of choice growing up, and how it will always be a place he considers home, despite his unceremonious split with the football program.

“I still consider it a home. I graduated from there — just as Utah is my home,” Carrington said. “I don’t think it’s going to be weird. Maybe being back there is going to be weird, but playing, it’s just another day of football, honestly. I’ve played so many times in that stadium, it’s just, let’s go again.”

Oregon coach Willie Taggart, who dismissed Carrington from the Ducks program in July, downplayed Carrington’s effect on Oregon’s approach to the contest on Monday, instead turning the focus on his own players.
