Make what you want of a 3-star recruit.
They may not be the most sought-after players in the world, but, every good team has them. For Minnesota, the Golden Gophers didn’t just get a 3-star recruit for the Class of 2018 in OT Daniel Faalele Saturday night.
They got a monster of a human being.
— Daniel Faalele (@DanielFaalele_) December 10, 2017
Faalele is — and this isn’t a typo — 6-foot-8, 400-pounds according to 247Sports.
Those are incredible numbers. To some, they may be too big. But, for the No. 29-ranked offensive tackle in his class, it works for him.
Faalele played high school football at Florida’s prestigious IMG Academy, which churns out Division I recruits on an annual basis. Faalele is now just one of many. He is originally from Melbourne, Australia.
The mammoth of a human being took an official visit to Minnesota on Friday and then committed just one day later. Faalele has scholarship offers from Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, Florida State, LSU, Miami (FL) and Michigan, just to name a few.
With his verbal commitment, Minnesota now owns the No. 6-ranked Big Ten class for the Class of 2018, which ranks No. 26 nationally. Faalele is joining another 3-star rated offensive tackle in Jack York for coach P.J. Fleck’s first full recruiting class with the Golden Gophers.
