Fans will have to wait a little longer to see Missouri freshman Michael Porter Jr, as his coach Cuonzo Martin provided an update on his status on Friday.
Martin, speaking with media members, told reporters that Porter Jr. will meet with his doctor in Dallas next Thursday. Martin added that he will not be able to be cleared until that that date, according to Aaron Reiss of the Kansas City Star.
Martin had previously ruled out Porter Jr.’s for Missouri’s next two games as the Tigers take on LSU and Ole Miss. The first game after next Thursday for Missouri is on the road, as the Tigers travel to take on Kentucky.
Porter Jr. has not played since Missouri’s first game of the season against Iowa State. He was the No. 1 overall high school recruit in the country for the 2017 cycle and is widely expected to be a top NBA draft pick.
Even without Porter Jr., Missouri has positioned itself to make the NCAA Tournament, as the Tigers are 18-8 on the season and are currently on a 5-game winning streak.
Missouri takes on LSU on Saturday at 2 PM ET. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2.
