Can Notre Dame pick up a key win on Saturday against a longtime rival to keep its playoff hopes alive?
ESPN’s College GameDay was on the Penn State campus today for Penn State-Michigan, and when it came to their predictions of who would win one of the day’s other top matchups in No. 13 Notre Dame vs. No. 11 USC, it didn’t end up unanimous.
Two of the pregame show’s three analysts, Kirk Herbstreit and Desmond Howard, both picked Notre Dame. Guest picker Ki-Jana Carter, a former Penn State standout, also picked the Fighting Irish to beat the Trojans.
However, there was one lone holdout, and that was Lee Corso. The veteran member of the GameDay crew picked the Trojans to get the win on the road against the Fighting Irish.
Notre Dame is on a four-game winning streak, having not dropped a game since losing 21-20 at home to now No. 3 Georgia. With that defeat now looking like a good loss thanks to the Bulldogs’ undefeated record, the Irish could give the College Football Playoff committee something to consider if they run the table. But it starts with a win tonight against the Trojans.
Notre Dame and USC kick off from South Bend at 7:30pm ET on NBC.
