The latest AP Top 25 was released by the Associated Press on Sunday after Week 8 games. Four SEC teams were listed in the Top 25 after the eighth full weekend of the 2017 football season.
Alabama remained the SEC’s top team following a convincing win against Tennessee at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Crimson Tide received all 61 first-place votes in the poll.
Georgia maintained its No. 3 ranking in the poll through a bye week. The Bulldogs will travel to Jacksonville to take on Florida in Week 9.
Auburn bounced back from a loss against LSU in Week 7 with a dominating road win against Arkansas. The Tigers moved up from No. 21 to No. 19 as a result of the win.
LSU continued its hot streak after a disastrous nonconference loss to Troy, adding Ole Miss to its list of post-Troy victims on Saturday night. The Tigers will next play the Crimson Tide, so that hot streak will be put to the test. The Tigers moved up from No. 24 to No. 23 after the victory.
Texas A&M, Mississippi State and South Carolina were among teams receiving votes, with the Aggies checking in as the team with the most points outside of the Top 25.
