College football rankings 2017: Projecting the AP Top 25 after Week 8

Much of the country — including five Top 25 teams — rested up this weekend, leaving a thinned-out schedule that didn’t provide much drama. But the college football rankings should still see a shake-up after dominant wins by Notre Dame and Penn State.

Here is our best guess at how the AP Top 25 will shake out after Week 8:

What a turnaround. Ed Orgeron’s Tigers have now won three straight — including an upset of then-No. 10 Auburn — after dispatching a feisty Ole Miss team in Oxford. The best part of the night was Derrius Guice’s performance; the beat-up running back went for 279 yards on just 22 carries against the Rebels. Louisiana State has now produced three unbelievable individual single-game rushing performances under Coach O.
