College football odds for Week 9 are out, and the Big Ten has a mix of big favorites and one-score spreads.
Ohio State opens as a 7-point favorite over Penn State at home in the biggest game of the week. The Buckeyes are coming off a bye week to face their first big test since losing to Oklahoma. Ohio State has felled Army, UNLV, Rutgers, Maryland and Nebraska by large margins, so this will be the Buckeyes’ chance to prove they can hang in a big game. Penn State dispatched Michigan 42-13 in its first game against a ranked team, and is 7-0 entering Week 9.

Wisconsin is a 24-point favorite over Illinois in the biggest spread of the week. Illinois is the home team, but has yet to win a Big Ten game. The Illini are 2-5 on the season with wins over Ball State and Western Kentucky. Wisconsin is 7-0 after a 38-13 win over Maryland in Week 8, and is on a clear path to the Big Ten championship game.
Michigan is a 23-point favorite over Rutgers in the second-biggest spread of the day, a fact that’s a little more interesting considering the two teams are tied in the Big Ten East standings with 2-2 conference records. Rutgers is on a two-game winning stream after victories over Illinois and Purdue, while Michigan is coming off a 42-13 loss to Penn State.
Following its bye week, Nebraska is a 6.5-point underdog at home to Purdue, which just lost to Rutgers.
