College basketball rankings: 3 SEC teams ranked in latest AP Top 25

College basketball rankings are under the microscope as the 2018 men’s basketball regular season winds down and postseason play comes into view.

The latest AP Top 25 was released on Monday, and it included three SEC teams. It’s a sobering message for a league that has been routinely projected to have eight teams in the field of 68 for next month’s NCAA Tournament.

For the third consecutive week, Auburn saw a drop in the poll The Tigers fell from No. 12 to No. 14 in the rankings. Auburn was ranked as highly as No. 8 as recently as three weeks ago.

Tennessee, meanwhile, continued its climb up the rankings with a three-spot jump from No. 19 to No. 16.

Kentucky jumped back into the rankings this week at No. 23, giving the league three teams once again after slipping to just two in the week prior.
