Lyn-J Dixon poised to make decision soon

We thought that Clemson was going to have to wait a while to find out where running back Lyn-J Dixon would decide to play. He was planning on deciding some time next year — probably in the days leading up to National Signing Day on Feb. 7 — but things have changed.

Now it appears the 4-star running back from Butler, Ga., will be deciding between two schools within the next week and putting pen to paper when the early signing period opens up on Wednesday, Dec. 20.

He named his finalists on Thursday with a post on Twitter, and it will be between Clemson and Oklahoma State.

Dixon originally committed to Tennessee on June 24 but de-committed from the Volunteers in October in the wake of the messy fallout of the Butch Jones firing in Knoxville. He took an official visit to Clemson on Nov. 18 for the Tigers’ game against the Citadel, and per Rivals’ Chad Simmons, Dixon will take an official visit to Oklahoma State this weekend.

“That will be it for me, Dixon told Simmons. “It came down to who was actually showing me the most interest and who showed me that I am wanted. It was those two schools.”

He said his decision to move the commitment up to December instead of waiting until February stemmed from not wanting to have teams move on from him — he’d rather ensure his spot on the team he chooses is still there for him.

Clemson still needs a running back in this class, and Dixon would be just what the Tigers are looking for.

“It just feels like family up there at Clemson,” Dixon told Simmons.. “The coaches create a great atmosphere. It is almost like a bunch of second dads for me up there. The players and coaches are so close. I love the people there and how everyone is honest and real. I had a great time.”

More visits

The visit caravan continued in earnest on Thursday as well, but this one didn’t have quite the stakes the trip to see tackle Cade Mays on Wednesday did.

Coach Dabo Swinney and tight ends coach Danny Pearman paid tight end commit Braden Galloway a visit, per Galloway’s Twitter.

Galloway, from Seneca, S.C., had a rough senior season because of a right foot injury and complications that developed from it later on, but he should be perfectly healthy by the time he gets ready for practice at the next level.
