Clemson quarterback Kelly Bryant’s injury against Syracuse saw him leave the game and give way to Zerrick Cooper. Cooper did OK in Bryant’s stead, going 10 of 14 for 88 yards in the loss.
Clemson is on a bye this week, so Bryant will be evaluated throughout the week to see if he is ready to play against Georgia Tech on Saturday. If he is not, coach Dabo Swinney has an idea of what the rotation at quarterback will look like.
It’s Kelly (Bryant) and, right now, Zerrick is two and Hunter (Johnson) is right there…Hunter just has to continue to get command of the offense and then Tucker (Israel).
Johnson has looked good in limited action this season. He was a perfect 5 for 5 for 42 yards and 1 touchdown in relief of Bryant during the Wake Forest game. In the season opener against Kent State, he was 5 for 6 for 39 yards.
Cooper has also seen limited time outside of his performance at Syracuse. He also played in the season opener against Kent State, going 4 for 6 for 37 yards and a score. He completed one of the two passes he threw against Auburn and was 2 of 6 against Wake Forest.
The Tigers host Georgia Tech on October 28 at Clemson Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 8pm ET on either ABC or ESPN2.
