Texas Tech head coach Chris Beard was complimentary of Oklahoma State’s atmosphere during the Cowboys’ 79-71 upset of the Red Raiders.
“I want to recognize the crowd, I thought the student section here was good,” said Beard, according to Berry Trammel of The Oklahoman. “We didn’t play our best, but I think you have to give Oklahoma State a lot of credit. That’s about as bad as we have been whipped at the start of the second half. So, hopefully our team will learn from it.
The Cowboys outshot the Red Raiders by a considerable margin. Oklahoma State hit on 50% of their 3-point attempts as opposed to Texas Tech’s 39.1 percent accuracy. Sharpshooter Lindy Waters III was four-for-four from 3-point range, and was also perfect in his field goals. The only shot Waters missed on all night was a free throw.
Texas Tech’s dominant senior guard, Keenan Evans, was held to merely two points on the outing.
Next up for the Cowboys is a trip to Austin to take on the Texas Longhorns.
