Charles Barkley shares strong opinion about Bruce Pearl’s future at Auburn

Charles Barkley left no doubt about what he thinks Auburn should do with basketball coach Bruce Pearl.

On Thursday, Auburn Undercover’s Brandon Marcello published a post that included an interview with the former Auburn and NBA star. Multiple topics about the Tigers’ memorable basketball season were discussed. Be sure to click here to watch what Barkley said about a number of Auburn-related items, because he didn’t disappoint with his opinions.

But toward the end, Barkley dropped a strong take about Pearl’s future with the Tigers. Barkley told Marcello that “Auburn would be idiots to let Bruce Pearl go.”

Some wonder what will happen to Pearl at the school, despite Auburn holding a 24-4 record with a 12-3 record in the SEC after a 90-71 victory against rival Alabama on Wednesday. Auburn has found itself involved in an ongoing FBI investigation into college basketball’s underbelly. Given recent reports, it figures things could become much worse for many in the sport.

Certainly, Barkley’s voice holds weight when it comes to all things Auburn basketball. His support for Pearl shouldn’t be a shock, given how the Tigers have become one of college basketball’s largest surprises this season. The Tigers look to be a true threat come March.

The Pearl situation will be something to watch in the weeks and months to come. But Barkley left no gray area when it comes to his stance on the coach’s performance.
