CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodd has named Alabama’s biggest challenger.
In releasing his latest power rankings, the analyst gave high praise to LSU after the Tigers beat Ole Miss last Saturday to improve to 6-2. It marked LSU’s third consecutive victory, and it gives the Tigers good vibes going into its matchup at Alabama on Nov. 4.
Here’s how Dodd broke down LSU, which came in at No. 15 in his rankings:
The Tigers look like the biggest challengers to Alabama. Against Ole Miss, Derrius Guice became the first SEC player to rush for 250 yards three times in his career. Three weeks after you fired Coach O, what say you now, Tiger Nation?
We’ll see about that.
Yes, LSU has gained momentum lately. But Alabama appears to be superior in so many ways when compared to the Tigers, especially when considering the coaching matchup between the Crimson Tide’s Nick Saban and the Tigers’ Ed Orgeron. That one isn’t close.
Many have considered Auburn to be the Crimson Tide’s greatest possible threat before a potential matchup against Georgia in the SEC Championship Game. LSU seems like a stretch for the “biggest challenger” title, especially with the Tigers sure to receive a rough welcome at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
