West Virginia wide receiver David Sills V is having a terrific season that no one really saw coming.
CBS Sports named Sills as one of college football’s biggest surprises this season, and who really could’ve predicted the former quarterback commit to USC would end up as one of the top wide receivers in the country with the Mountaineers?
“It’s not easy making a transition from a position you loved and thriving in a new role,” Ben Kercheval wrote of Sills. “Our [Sills] has gone from the subject of recruiting folk lore to the most dangerous possession receiver in major college football.”
DieHards reporter Shehan Jeyarajah detailed Sills’ journey from committing to Lane Kiffin and Southern Cal at age 13 to becoming one of the best wideouts in the country for the Mountaineers in an article on Thursday.
Sills’ rise is impressive from everything he’s endured along his journey, and he’ll get a chance to show off his skill set on primetime when West Virginia faces Baylor at 8 p.m. ET, Saturday, on Fox Sports 1 in Waco, Texas.
