California SDE Stephon Wright names Oklahoma in top 10

Oklahoma-Oklahoma Sooners-Stephon Wright-top 10

One of the top talents in California is one step closer to a decision.

On Wednesday, Los Angeles (Calif.) Cathedral strong-side defensive end Stephon Wright announced his top 10 and the Oklahoma Sooners survived the cut.

Joining Oklahoma are the schools still being considered going forward are Colorado, Washington State, USC, Arizona State, Arizona, Washington, Nebraska, California and Utah.

A coveted edge rusher with 19 total offers to date, Wright’s list cut left programs such as Texas A&M, Illinois, Iowa State, Kansas, Mississippi State and Oregon State looking elsewhere for strong-side defensive end talent.

As Wright noted, though, he is still open to other opportunities.

One of seven uncommitted strong-side defensive ends with an Oklahoma offer, Wright unofficially visited the Sooners in early November. Thus far, Oklahoma owns one of Wright’s four Crystal Ball projections. However, the other three favor the home-town Trojans, as he’s visited USC on numerous occasions.

In hopes of luring Wright to Norman, the Sooners will not only have to recruit him away from the home-town power, but do so despite already holding a pledge from Manvel (Texas) strong-side defensive end Kori Roberson, although Wright is certainly the more highly-ranked of the two.

A 4-star prospect, Wright is ranked as the nation’s No. 217 player, No. 17 strong-side defensive end, and the No. 25 player in California, per the 247Sports Composite.
