After reports first emerged on Tuesday that Jarrett Guarantano would start at quarterback on Saturday, Butch Jones confirmed that at Wednesday’s press conference.
Guarantano will take over for Quinten Dormady, who started the first five games for Tennessee. The Volunteers went 3-2 in those games, but both losses came against SEC opponents.
The redshirt freshman quarterback saw playing time at the end of the Georgia game, which Tennessee lost 41-0. In the three games he has played in this year, Guarantano is 12 of 24 for 54 yards and one touchdown.
Tennessee takes on South Carolina on Saturday at 12 pm ET. The Gamecocks beat Tennessee last year 24-21 but that game was played in Columbia, SC. After South Carolina, the Volunteers take on Alabama.
