Texas Tech football needs just two more wins on the season to become bowl eligible. ESPN seems fairly confident about where the Red Raiders will head this bowl season if they can tally six wins.
ESPN projected Texas Tech to play in the Cactus Bowl in Phoenix, Ariz. in its latest bowl projections on Sunday. The game will be played at Chase Field on Dec. 26.
Texas Tech’s opponent, however, was up for debate.
ESPN writer Kyle Bonagura liked Texas Tech’s chances of facing Utah in the desert. On the other hand, David Hale predicted a rematch of the Texas Tech-Arizona State game just several miles away from Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Ariz.
Texas Tech defeated Arizona State 52-45 in Week 2 this season. ASU prevailed in the 2016 meeting in Tempe, 68-55.
The Red Raiders have lost two straight games after starting the year 4-1 as climbing to No. 24 in the AP Top 25 poll. Texas Tech won’t have it any easier this weekend when the team travels to Norman for a road game against No. 10 Oklahoma.
