Udoka Azubuike played in Thursday’s 76-60 first round victory over Penn, but in a not enough to do significant damage due to a left knee injury.
According to Jeff Borzello of ESPN, Bill Self is hoping that Azubuike can return at mostly full speed for Saturday’s game.
“If you watching him (Azubuike), he didn’t move very well,” said Self. “And we would have put him in the second if we would have needed to, but foul situations didn’t dictate that. So we decided to go ahead, and hopefully we can get him at 80 percent, 85 percent tomorrow for full practice, and then have him available to us on Saturday.”
It was a slow start for the Jayhawks, but they eventually pulled away from Penn late in the first half.
The Jayhawks will play the victor of Seton Hall-NC State in the second round.
