Baylor leads nation in 4th down attempts since 2010

According to an article from Bud Elliott of SBNation that references cfbstats.com, Baylor leads the nation in 4th down conversion attempts.

The Bears have gone for it on 4th downs 237 times since 2010, beating the closest team to them, Army, by ten attempts.

Baylor has gone for it on 4th down 13 times this season with Matt Rhule at the help. They lead the nation in 4th down attempts in 2016 with Jim Grobe, going for it 46 times.

Baylor’s aggressive style of offense pays off for them more often than not. They’ve been one of the most dynamic offenses in the nation in the modern era of football, utilizing speed and pushing a defense vertically to great success.

It’s not a shock that the Bears are 1st in 4th down attempts since 2010, in fact it feels inevitable. The Bears are continuing their brand of explosive offense even with Matt Rhule’s slower pace, largely due to the talent of their wide receivers. How well it pays off for a Baylor team that has yet to win a game this season remains to be seen.
