J.T. Barrett can have lengthy NFL career, draft expert says

For all the wins, starts, stats and other accolades J.T. Barrett racked up at Ohio State, there will still be plenty of other quarterbacks picked ahead of him in the 2018 NFL Draft.

But Barrett could stick around the league for a long time, according to draft expert Mike Mayock. Speaking with reporters on a conference call, Mayock, who works with NFL Network, said he thinks Barrett will be a late-round pick in April’s draft but will stay in the NFL “for a lot of years.”

Barrett is listed as the No. 16 quarterback available in the draft by NFL.com. The main knock against Barrett is his accuracy, but he does have tons of experience in meaningful games and was a three-time Ohio State captain.

Barrett threw for 35 touchdowns and only 9 interceptions while completing 64.7 percent of his passes for 3,053 yards in the 2017 season. He will get a chance to show off at the NFL Combine next month.
