Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield was in awe of hanging out with former Georgia running back Herschel Walker last weekend, according to ESPN’s Jake Trotter.
Mayfield met the football legend while in New York, where he won the 83rd Heisman Trophy over Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson and Stanford running back Bryce Love.
Walker apparently looks like he could still lace up, however, to Mayfield.
“He looks like he could still play,” Mayfield told ESPN. “A once-in-a-century-type-of athlete.”
Mayfield didn’t seem to mind the fact Walker played for the school he’ll face on Jan. 1 in the College Football Playoff semifinal at the Rose Bowl. But the Oklahoma quarterback will certainly try to knock off Walker’s Bulldogs when the Sooners face them in Pasadena, California, on New Year’s Day.
The Rose Bowl is set for a 5 p.m. ET kickoff on ESPN and on WatchESPN. Mayfield could become the first Sooner player to ever win a Heisman Trophy and a national championship in the same season.
