One of the best players in the 2018 recruiting class committed to Illinois on Thursday night. Ayo Dosunmu, the No. 27 overall recruit and No. 1 2018 player in Illinois according to the 247Sports composite rankings, committed to Illinois on Thursday night.
Dosunmu is rated as a 4-star recruit, but the third-best shooting guard in his class. The Chicago native picked his in-state Illini over Wake Forest and made the choice during a ceremony at the Jordan Brand store in the Windy City.

This is a huge get for new Illinois coach Brad Underwood. Dosunmu (6-foot-4, 172 pounds) will be able to make an immediate impact for the Illini, and it shows the first-year coach is capable of getting his state’s best talent to come to Champaign.
Dosunmu, who took an official visit to Illinois earlier this month, is the Illini’s first 2018 commit.
