Auburn RB Kamryn Pettway will not return for Peach Bowl vs. UCF

AUBURN, Ala. — Auburn football will still be without running back Kamryn Pettway for its 2017 season finale in the Peach Bowl against UCF.

Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said Wednesday morning Pettway, who missed the Tigers’ last five games of the season with a fractured bone in his shoulder. The 2016 SEC rushing champion will finish the season with just 305 yards and 6 touchdowns on 76 carries.

Pettway is eligible to go to the NFL after this season as a redshirt junior. On Wednesday, Malzahn said “we’ll cross that bridge later” when it came to discussions with Pettway’s future.

Junior running back Kerryon Johnson played through a shoulder injury in the SEC championship game, a loss to Georgia. Malzahn said Johnson didn’t have to have surgery on the shoulder and “he’ll want to play” against UCF on Jan. 1.

Auburn will return to the practice field Friday.
