Tigers receive All-America honors

Four Auburn football players earned a tremendous honor on Monday afternoon.

Kerryon Johnson, Braden Smith, Carlton Davis and Daniel Carlson were named to the Associated Press All-America teams. Smith was a first-team member, while Johnson, Davis and Carlson all made the second team.

Previously, Johnson was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Year by the AP and SEC coaches. It’s just more honors and accolades for Gus Malzahn’s program.

When gymnastics season starts, the Tigers will be ranked No. 14. The Tigers landed at that spot in the National Association of College Gymnastics Coaches/Women in the preseason poll on Monday.

A trio of Southeastern Conference teams opened in the top 5 — Florida, LSU and Alabama — while eight SEC schools were ranked in the top 20.

Auburn begins the regular season on Jan. 6, when the Tigers will travel to Arizona State for a quad meet.
