Auburn football: How to liven up a boring bye week 101

Auburn football is the No. 1 topic in the War Eagle Wakeup every day — but we cover news, notes and analysis from across the Tigers’ sports world. Join us each morning to get caught up on everything you missed in the world of Auburn football, recruiting, basketball and more.

Movin’ on up

Auburn isn’t afraid of movement when it comes to the national football polls.

Just a week after dropping following their loss at LSU, the Tigers inched up two spots from No. 21 to No. 19.

That’s not too far from where Gus Malzahn’s team started the season, and there’s still a lot of football (including games against No. 1 Alabama and No. 3 Georgia).

Liven up the boring bye week

Few teams in all of college football need a bye week as badly as Auburn does.

Defensive players Tray Matthews, Tre’ Williams and Marlon Davidson are among some of the top Tigers who’ve been “banged up.” And that’s just the beginning. Casey Dunn and Mike Horton are key pieces of the offensive line who’ve been struggling to stay healthy, too.

While the off week is great for Auburn, it’s not as enjoyable for the fans (even though they probably could use a bit of a break, too).

Fortunately, there’s one way you can continue to have fun, even when the Tigers aren’t tearing it up: rewatch all the highlights from the trip to Fayetteville.

Beating up the Tigers

Auburn soccer played LSU on Sunday night and ended the evening with a 0-0 draw.

The Tigers (7-4-5 overall, 4-1-4 SEC) outshot the visiting Tigers, 28-9, despite the draw. That total was the team’s second-highest shot output of the season. Goalie Sarah Le Beau also recorded her seventh shutout of the season (fifth in SEC play).

Tweet of the day

Simple is the best way to go, according to Auburn’s Kerryon Johnson.
