Arkansas State coach Blake Anderson takes shot at Razorbacks

Arkansas State coach Blake Anderson is enjoying a 3-0 start in Sun Belt play with the Red Wolves this season. Things on the other side of the state aren’t going so well with Bret Bielema’s Arkansas Razorbacks off to an 0-4 start in the SEC. Monday at the Little Rock Touchdown Club, Anderson made light of this situation with a pointed joke directed at the Hogs.

Anderson told an apparently mostly fabricated story of taking his players to a second-grade class in Jonesboro, Ark., last week. As his story goes, the classroom was decorated with Razorbacks colors and logos. When Anderson inquired with the teacher about why there wasn’t more of a Red Wolves’ presence in the room, the teacher stated she was a Razorbacks fan along with the rest of her class.

The class was then asked to raise their hand if they’re Razorbacks fans. Anderson says each student but one did so. That student announced she was an Arkansas State supporter because her parents back the Red Wolves.

Anderson continued: “The teacher said, ‘You don’t have to be exactly what your parents are. You can do your own thing. What if your parents were both losers?’ She said, ‘Well then I’d be a Razorback.’ Is it too soon? I’m sorry. It’s just a joke.”
