Arkansas lands first commitment in the Chad Morris era

Arkansas-Chad Morris

IT didn’t even take Chad Morris a full week to land his first commitment.

On early Sunday morning, Morris was able to flip the commitment status of wide receiver Michael Woods from his former team, SMU, to the Razorbacks.

Woods is a 3-star wide receiver out of Magnolia, Tx., and is listed at 6-foot-1 and 188 pounds. Morris has a history of developing standout receivers, as he turned DeAndre Hopkins and Sammy Watkins into future pros while at Clemson. He also has SMU wide receiver Courtland Sutton poised to be a top pick in this year’s NFL Draft.

Prior to Woods’ commitment, Arkansas had the No. 75 class in the country per the 247Sports Composite rankings, which is worst among the SEC schools. Morris will have to continue to reel in prospects early on to help improve a team that went 4-8 this year.

On Saturday, Morris did send an offer to Texas quarterback John Stephen Jones, who is the grandson of Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.
