For the second straight week, the Arizona State Sun Devils defense stepped up, allowing only 10 points to Utah and picking off four passes en route to a 30-10 win in Salt Lake City. The suddenly dangerous Sun Devils ran for 205 yards on the ground and used an efficient effort from Manny Wilkens to improve their record to 4-3 (3-1 in Pac-12 play).
Utah-Arizona State football live score, updates
FINAL: Devonta’e Henry-Cole adds a late TD run for Utah, but it’s all for nothing. Arizona State wins 30-10.
7:31 4Q: Pick-six from JJ Wilson. And that’s ballgame. Utah fans are not happy right now. Devils up 30-3.
8:18 4Q: Utah can’t get a dang thing going on offense today. They’ll need a miracle at this point.
14:50 4Q: And on the first play of the quarter, ASU gives it right back. A deflected pass is caught by Utah for the pick. Utes still have life.
END 3Q: Utah was showing some momentum, but a terrible pick by Tyler Huntley gives the ball back to the Devils in Utah’s side of the field. This one might be close to over with another score.
4:45 3Q: Scratch that, play was overtuned and ASU keeps the ball. The drive continues and Wilkins caps it off with a 1-yard TD run. 23-3 Sun Devils lead.
6:24 3Q: As ASU was driving, Manny Wilkins was hit from behind while being tackled and fumbled. Utah recovers and momentum is definitely with the Utes.
10:32 3Q: A four minute drive for Utah results in a field goal and the Utes are on the board. ASU leads 16-3.
HALFTIME: Tyler Huntley is really struggling today with two interceptions. The Sun Devils lead 16-0 at the half thanks to 75 rushing yards and a TD from Demario Richard.

Arizona State-Utah keys to the game for the Sun Devils
Pressure the Utah QB, whoever it is
The quarterback situation for Utah is unclear going into Saturday afternoon. Troy Williams has lined up as the team’s starting signal-caller for the past two games while Tyler Huntley nurses an injury. Huntley returned to practice this week, but no official word has yet been made as to whether or not he’ll play.
Regardless, the Sun Devils have to keep up the same pressure against Utah that it did against Washington. Arizona State had three sacks in the first half alone last week, forcing the Huskies to veer away from its gameplan. That also forced Washington to stay behind the chains — the Huskies were just 3-of-14 on third downs.
Maintain ball control
In ASU’s upset of Washington, the Sun Devils won the time of possession battle by nearly 10 minutes. They also had three more first downs than the Huskies and committed just one penalty. A week ago, USC allowed Utah to hang around because Sam Darnold, as usual, couldn’t stop turning the ball over.
If Arizona State can limit turnovers and improve its rushing attack to complement the pass, Utah will have a tough time finding the same spark it did in Los Angeles.
