What are the preliminary positions of interest for the 2019 class?

Nick Saban made it clear at his press conference wrapping up National Signing Day last Wednesday that Alabama would have liked to add at least one more quarterback, defensive lineman and linebacker. So, naturally, those will be the areas of focus in the 2019 class.
It was always going to be tough for Alabama to sign a quarterback in the 2018 class because of the team’s young, talented depth chart. Expect the Tide to try to sign two quarterbacks in the 2019 class.
Thankfully for the Tide, there are two elite prospects in the state that have ties to the program in 4-star quarterbacks Paul Tyson and Taulia Tagovailoa. Tyson is the great-grandson of Bear Bryant and Taulia is Tua’s younger brother.
On the defensive line, the Tide only signed 4-star defensive linemen Christian Barmore and Stephon Wynn Jr. in the 2018 class. Alabama missed on Bobby Brown, who flipped from the Tide to Texas A&M on National Signing Day and 4-star defensive end Malik Langham, who signed with Florida.
This upcoming season will be the last for Isaiah Buggs and Johnny Dwight. Raekwon Davis has the potential to be a first-round draft pick, so the Tide may lose him after this season, too. Some Class of 2019 defensive line prospects to keep an eye on are 5-star defensive tackle Ishmael Sopsher, 4-star defensive tackle DJ Dale, 4-star defensive end Ani Izuchukwu, 4-star defensive tackle C.J. Clark, 4-star defensive end Nathan Pickering, 4-star defensive end Bill Norton and 4-star defensive tackle Travon Walker. Other names will emerge over the next few months as Alabama starts hosting junior days.
Alabama only signed Jack linebackers Eyabi Anoma, Jordan Davis and Cameron Latu in the 2018 class. Davis may grow into a defensive end. The Tide missed on JJ Peterson, who signed with Tennessee, and Quay Walker, who flipped to Georgia on National Signing Day.
The Tide will lose Keith Holcombe after this season and Mack Wilson may declare for the NFL draft. Several linebackers will be added this class, and Alabama already has a commitment from 4-star outside linebacker King Mwikuta. Some other targets to know in this class are: 5-star inside linebacker Nakobe Dean, 5-star outside linebacker Owen Pappoe, 4-star outside linebacker Marcel Brooks and 4-star inside linebacker Vonta Bentley.
