Alabama’s historic dominance through 5 SEC games can be summed up by this single stat

Alabama just keeps getting better under Nick Saban.

Need proof? Let’s start with 59, 63, 8, 32 and 38. No, those aren’t the winning Powerball numbers. Those are the margin of victory for each of Alabama’s first five SEC games.

According to the research of SEC Network analyst Cole Cubelic, the sum of those numbers (200 points) is the largest margin of victory through 5 conference games in SEC history.

Sit back and think about that for a minute. The Crimson Tide even has a one-possession win against Texas A&M weighing down the averages on this historical stat.

With games against LSU, Mississippi State and Auburn remaining, one could argue that the true test is yet to come for Nick Saban’s squad. After all, a loss or two at the back end of the conference slate would negate any pride Alabama fans might take in the fast start.

Oh, and for reference, we did the math on Kirby Smart’s impressive start at Georgia. Through four games, Smart’s Bulldogs have outscored opponents by a staggering 125 points. But to simply be on pace with what Alabama has done to date, the Bulldogs would need to outscore Florida by 75 points next week.
