Fairly often, we’ll see a player from the defensive end of the ball get
into the end zone, either on a fumble return or an interception. Rarely do we see one of the big men up front, namely the
defensive tackles, take one for a score.
However, that was the case in Blacksburg, Va., when Virginia Tech hosted North Carolina. Take this play from Virginia Tech
vs. North Carolina. Check out big Virginia Tech defensive tackle Ricky Walker, who is 6’2″ and weighs 300 pounds:
The redshirt junior entered today’s game with 11.5 tackles for a loss and 1.5 sacks for his career. He now has 11.5
tackles for a loss, 1.5 sacks, and fumble return for a touchdown. There’s no doubt he’ll remember that particular
play for the rest of his life.
