Given that Barnett won’t play for the Tigers, there will be even more eyes on Porter Jr. The No. 2 overall recruit in the 2017 recruiting class has played in only two games. In his first game back from a back injury, he scored 12 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in an SEC Tournament game but he was 5 of 17 from the field. Missouri ended up losing that game 62-60 to Georgia.

The Tigers are 20-12 on the season and went 10-8 in the SEC this year. The Tigers were led by senior Kassius Robertson who was a first-team All-SEC selection, and freshman Jontay Porter, Michael’s younger brother, who was the co-SEC Sixth Man of the Year. Missouri is coached by Cuonzo Martin, who is in his first year after taking over for Kim Anderson. Missouri won just eight games a season ago.

Florida State also lost in the opening round of its conference tournament, falling to Louisville. The Seminoles went 20-11 on the season, and 9-9 in ACC. The ACC is the only conference to get more teams in the NCAA Tournament than the SEC — the ACC got 9, the SEC 8.

This will be Missouri’s first NCAA Tournament game since 2013. Martin has coached in the NCAA Tournament at both Cal and Tennessee.

Missouri will be playing in the West Regional. You can see the full seeding for teams in the West as well all the games on Friday.
