Ohio State’s Elliott wins Sullivan Award

Ohio State sophomore running back Ezekiel Elliott was named the winner of the 85th AAU James E. Sullivan Award on Sunday.

The award honors the most outstanding amateur athlete in the country. According to the Sullivan Award’s website, it is known as the Oscar of sports awards.

Elliott rushed for 1,874 yards last season. In the Big Ten championship game, Sugar Bowl and national championship game, he rushed for 696 yards and eight touchdowns.

Elliott, a marketing major, is a two-time Ohio State scholar-athlete and an Academic All-Big Ten Conference honoree.

Elliott is recovering from wrist surgery and didn’t play Saturday in the spring game at Ohio Stadium.
