In 18 Major League Baseball seasons with the Reds, Astros, Orioles, he batted .267 with 354 home runs and 1,244 RBI. May was a three-time All-Star, and one of Reds Hall of Fame broadcaster Marty Brennaman's favorite players and people. His tribute on 700 WLW before Sunday's game was quite moving.

While Castillo put the clamps on the team that traded him to Cincinnati, legendary baseball writer Hal McCoy paid respect Sunday, writing warmly about the "Big Bopper of Birmingham," as May was one of 11 former MLB players to register 100 or more RBI with three different teams.
Plenty of others remember May fondly as well.
Saddened to hear about the death of former #Reds 1B Lee May. Terrific power hitter and a great teammate. Rest in peace.
