Breaking down the Bengals schedule game by game

The Cincinnati Bengals will play three of their first four games and three of their final four on the road, and they have just one primetime game.

The last time they played three of their first four on the road was 2012. The last time they played three of final four on the road was 2009.

The last time they did both? Never.

This season also will be the first time since 2011 they aren’t scheduled to play on Sunday or Monday night.

Those are among the notable details of the 2018 schedule, which the NFL released Thursday night.

Here’s a week-by-week look at the path the Bengals will take in a bid to return to the playoffs for the first time since 2015:

Sept. 9: at Indianapolis

Just when you thought the fourth preseason game couldn’t be any more meaningless, the NFL makes the Bengals and Colts play in back-to-back weeks as Indianapolis’ Frank Reich makes his head-coaching debut.

Sept. 14: BALTIMORE

The Bengals play a Week 2 Thursday night game for the second year in a row. Cincinnati is 4-5 on Thursday night under Marvin Lewis.
