Three Ohio haunted houses up for  ‘Best Haunted Attraction’ in national poll — including one of our own

‘Tis the season for terror — and boy, does Ohio know scary.

On USA Today’s poll for best haunted attractions, three of Ohio’s spookiest spots are on the list. Blood Prison in Mansfield, Dead Acres Haunted Hoochie in Pataskala and The Lewisburg Haunted Cave.

The cave opens for the season on Sept. 14.

Ohio took three of the total 20 nominees, making the Buckeye State the second most featured on the list, next to California.

The haunted houses and destinations were selected by USA Today’s 10 Best Local Experts and editors who chose the options based on best actors, set designs, special effects and value for money.

Voting ends on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at noon. You can vote once per day for your favorite haunted attraction; check out the Readers’ Choice official rules here.
