Recent temperatures might have you opting for a nice warm cup of hot chocolate rather than a brain-freeze inducing ice cream cone.

However, Graeter’s Ice Cream’s latest announcement might be able to convince your taste buds otherwise.
Earlier today, Graeter’s Ice Cream confirmed the return of its summer 2017 hit, Chunky Chunky Hippo Ice Cream. A sweet toffee ice cream base with salted roasted peanuts and milk chocolate caramel truffles, the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden-themed flavor received overwhelming support, said Chip Graeter, the fourth generation owner of Graeter’s.
The delicious return comes appropriately ten days before the Cincinnati Zoo celebrates Fiona the hippo’s first birthday on January 24, 2018. Fiona was last year’s addition to the zoo’s hippo habitat that won over the hearts of everyone who saw her.
At Graeter’s Scoop Shop locations, shoppers will also be able to participate in the celebration of Fiona with a special Fiona collectible card as a gift with purchase of Chunky Chunky Hippo ice cream.
“Chunky Chunky Hippo is becoming a true family-favorite. We’re excited to bring it back to all of our scoop shops and grocery partners” Graeter said in a press release.
The limited edition flavor will be produced in small batches and sold at Graeter’s Scoop Shops and at graeters.com beginning January 14. Conveniently, fans will also be able to pick up a tub at select Krogers, Whole Foods, Fresh Market, Dorothy Lane Markets, Fresh Thyme and Jungle Jim’s in the Cincinnati-Dayton area.
