Value of two new Wright-Patt contracts exceeds $48 million

Two just announced contracts from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base have a combined value totalling nearly $50 million.

According to the Department of Defense, Wright Patterson is the contracting activity for new contracts awarded to the Boeing Co., Defense Space Security, in St. Louis, Mo. and JASR Systems LLC in La Jolla, Calif.

MORE2018 was a 'record year' for JobsOhio.

Boeing has been awarded a not-to-exceed $40 million modification to a previously awarded contract for production of infrared search and track systems, the DoD said.

This modification provides for the production of six more search-and-track ship sets. Work will be performed in St. Louis and Orlando, Fla., and is expected to be complete by Oct. 31, 2022.

In California, JASR Systems has been awarded an $8.1 million contract for research and development work.

This contract provides for the development of chip-scale optical phased arrays and LIDAR — Light Detection and Ranging systems.

Work will be performed in California and is expected to be complete by Nov. 1, 2020.

This award is the result of a competitive acquisition and just one offer was received, according to the DoD.

Air Force Research Laboratory, also based at Wright-Patterson, is the contracting activity.

The center of Air Force research and logistics work, Wright-Patterson has a total economic impact of $15.54 billion on the Dayton area, according to a recent Dayton Development Coalition study.
