WAMBSGANS, Robert O.

ROBERT O. WAMBSGANS, age 102, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at home with his family. He was born in Erie, PA, on September 4, 1918, to Edward and Anna Emilie (Haase) Wambsgans. Bob served his country during World War II in the Army Air Corps in New Guinea and Biak Island for four and a half years. He was a 32nd Degree Mason with the Tyrian-Commonwealth Lodge in Erie, PA, for nearly 75 years. Bob attended Academy High School and

Gannon College in Erie, PA. He worked as a mechanical engineer. A job offer at The Bauer Bros. Company brought Bob to Springfield in 1956, retiring in 1983. He was a longtime member of Covenant Presbyterian Church where he served as a Trustee and was very active in adult fellowship. Bob enjoyed his piano and organ. He was a member of the Springfield

Organ Guild for many years. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Virginia (Castner) Wambsgans and one daughter, Julie (Douglas) Slagel. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Donald Edward Wambsgans. A private memorial service will be held in Bob's honor. The service will be live-streamed beginning at 2:30pm Wednesday, January
