A Florida man was in denial when police said they found him sleeping with what appeared to be crack cocaine in his mouth last week.

Eric Lamont Smith, 45, was sleeping at the top of a stairwell at a Vero Beach-area apartment complex at about 12:50 a.m. on Feb. 15 when officers noticed a plastic bag with white powder in his mouth, TCPalm reports.

When asked whether the narcotic was his, Smith, who is homeless, told them the “crack did not belong to him” and that he was not sure how it ended up in his mouth, the arrest affidavit stated. He was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine.
