Man fights town to keep his 'therapy geese'

A Wisconsin man is fighting with town officials for his right to keep a flock of geese that he claims are his therapy pets.

Bob Sparks told WKOW that he is disabled and has a doctor's note allowing him to keep geese as therapy pets. He has named the geese after characters on one of his favorite classic TV shows, "I Love Lucy."

But town officials sent Sparks a letter, telling him he had 10 days to remove the birds. Residents are prohibited from keeping geese on their property.

Sparks is raising funds to help him file a variance request and his wife started a Change.org petition. According to his wife, Sparks became disabled after being hit by a car while he had stopped to help another motorist. The accident has left lingering physical and cognitive side effects.

WKOW reported that even with the variance request, there is no guarantee that Sparks will be allowed to keep the geese.
