Two Springfield men reportedly robbed at gunpoint in separate weekend incidents

Two Springfield men were allegedly robbed at gunpoint over the weekend in separate incidents, according to Springfield Police Division reports.

Both of the alleged robberies involved the men being held at gunpoint while being forced to empty their pockets. The first incident occurred Friday afternoon, while the other one happened Sunday evening.

The first robbery was committed in the 900 block of Rice Street. It was reported at 4:41 p.m., Friday, according to a police report.

The victim was listed as a 24-year-old man who stated that he was getting out of his car when he was approached by two males in their 20s, according to the report.

The victim said that one was wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt and brandished a silver firearm before striking the victim in the left side of his face. The victim said that he was attacked by both males before they emptied his pockets and fled eastbound on Rice Street, according to the report.

The suspects were allegedly picked up by an unknown driver in a Honda Civic before fleeing the area, according to the report.

A man walking to his car in the 900 block of Rice Street told officers that he witnessed the robbery as did a neighbor, the report stated.

No charges were filed pending further investigation into the identities of the suspects. A license plate was not obtained for the suspected getaway vehicle.

The second robbery occurred in the 1600 block of Selma Road and was reported at 5:06 p.m., Sunday, according to a separate police report.

The victim was listed as a 27-year-old man who said that he was washing his car, a black Honda Civic, when he was approached by three unknown black males, according to that report.

He advised that the males exited a black car with tinted windows and one brandished a handgun. The victim said that he does not speak English very well and did not understand what the suspects were saying to him. The victim said he was struck in the face with the gun and was punched by another male, according to the report.

The victim reported his car keys and wallet were taken from him. The suspects were reported to have gotten back in their car and drove away toward Delta and Selma roads, according to the incident report.

No charges were filed at the time due to a lack of suspect information.
