Houston Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins said Thursday he will donate his NFL playoff check to the family of a 7-year-old girl killed in an apparent random attack, KHOU reported.
Hopkins said his $29,000 check, which he will receive when the Texans host the Indianapolis Colts in a wild-card game Saturday, will be used to pay for the funeral costs of Jazmine Barnes.
"On Saturday, I will be playing in your honor, Jazmine,” Hopkins tweeted.
Jazmine died Dec. 30 when she was fatally shot while riding inside a vehicle with her mother and three sisters.
"What I can do, that's nothing, that won't bring back a person," Hopkins told ESPN on Thursday. "I'm not trying to make it out about me or anything like that. It's the least I could do."
