The Cincinnati Enquirer reports Aftab Pureval says Sarah Topy resigned Tuesday based on “new information.”

Pureval, a Beavercreek native, is trying to unseat incumbent Republican Steve Chabot. He said in a statement he’d learned someone hadn’t lived up to his campaign’s standards of professionalism and accountability, but provided no details.

The Ohio Republican Party on Tuesday accused someone from Pureval’s campaign with stealing sensitive voter information from a database while posing as a volunteer for Chabot. Pureval has denied sending an infiltrator into Chabot’s campaign.

The 1st congressional district includes all of Warren County and part of Hamilton County including most of Cincinnati.

A message was left with Topy seeking comment.
