When police arrived, they found the Springfield Fire Division to be on scene with the vehicle fires out.
Officers then spoke to the owner of the two vehicles that had been set on fire in the parking lot of the property.
“(The owner) advised that he did not know who started the fire and did not know anyone who wanted to damage the property. He did advise there was a hole in the fence surrounding the parking lot and that the suspect may have entered the lot through the hole,” the report stated.
The owner was also able to show officers video footage of the incident.
“In the video footage, it appeared there was only one individual involved. The suspect threw a type of container that was ablaze into the Chevy Silverado. The suspect then fled on foot, and the resulting fire engulfed the Silverado and the Malibu parked to the north of it,” the report stated.
No other suspect or witness information was available.
Springfield police continue their investigation into this arson incident.
