“We are pleased Southwest continues to expand its number of nonstop destinations from CVG,” said Candace McGraw, chief executive officer of CVG. “Both Orlando and Phoenix are popular destinations for spring break travel, and of course Reds spring training in Goodyear, Arizona is in full swing during March.”

The Cincinnati airport has become one of the top airports in the region as average ticket fares continue to decrease. The airport was once the most expensive airport in the country until its first low-cost carrier joined in 2013.

Southwest is one of the low-cost carriers that has helped the airport’s average ticket cost drop. While the airline is expanding services in Cincinnati, it removed itself entirely from the Dayton International Airport a little over a year ago.
