Cold front brings showers, thunderstorms this afternoon, high winds possible

Showers and thunderstorms are moving through the area and are expected to affect the region through about 6 p.m., the National Weather Service in Wilmington reported.

A strong cold front includes possible damaging winds.

Highs will reach about 71 degrees, but temperatures will drop as low as 47 degrees overnight. The day will be windy and gusts may reach up to 30 mph at times

On Tuesday, it will by dry but cooler and breezy with a high temperature of 64 degrees and an overnight low of 45 degrees. Skies will be partly sunny during the day, though more clouds may roll in during the evening.

Wednesday will be mostly sunny and cool with a high temperature of 68 degrees. The evening will be partly cloudy. Overnight lows will fall to 45 degrees.
